IMHO
I believe that the original intent of the timing was to foster what was
basically a stateside contest with the times. The start time roughly
cooincides with sunset on the East coast on Friday night and the stop
time roughly coincides with sunrise on the West coast on Sunday. The
changes over the years in listening and transmitting antennas plus the
committment of many to go 'full bore' has changed the tenor of the
test. I believe the fair thing would be to make it 48 hours.

P.S. I'm beginning to think I might set up a poll on the contesting.com
homepage to do a survey on this. Options could include: 1. No change,
2. 24 hours, 3. 48 hours, 4. 24 hours with an operating time limit (like
Stew Perry), 5. 48 hours with an operating time limit (like CQ WPX) I
feel this will be a much more efficient to give everyone input and not
clutter the reflector with 800 opinions. Please E-mail me direct if I've
omitted your favorite option...de W4ZV (w4zv@contesting.com)
