Fellow Top Banders,
Robin, WA6CDR and I had tenative plans to do a MS in CQ WW 160 from Herb's
place in the VI at the end of January. However, things have arisen that
preclude us making the trip.
Below is Herb's message to me indicating that his station is available for
ARRL 160, SPDC etc. Anyone interested, contact Herb directly at
herbs@vitelcom.net
Good luck. Milt, N5IA

Milt,
Thanks for considering my QTH. I can not report much success on 160 by
Steve AA4V/KP2 because conditions were terrible. However he did over
7,000,000 points because the higher bands were very productive.
If you know of anybody who may be interested please spread he word that the
QTH is open. All the equipment performed flawlessly during the contest and
a visiting fireman can travel light. The round-trip airfares to St. Croix
have not be this low in a decade. $371 out of Miami and $451 out of New
York or Newark for the next few months. ARRL 160 and the SPDC are open for
low band enthusiasts. As a bonus I will include a complimentary 3 days and
2 nights at the new 5 Star Divi Carina Bay Hotel about 3 miles up the beach.
(I must use this before December 31, 2001) The hotel occupancy has been so
low after WTC that hotels are trading rooms for various services they need
locally. A total of 47 guests were counted in all of St. Croix's hotels by
the Hotel Association for one night last month. That is an average of 1
guest per hotel!)
Things will pick up. Just spread the word about my QTH. The beverages are
up and they work very well both on 160 and 80. They were a high performer
on 40 as well.
