Had a problem with a 5 kw station, less than one quarter of a mile away, on
1480 kHz--birdies everywhere. High-pass filters that would not affect 160
m adversely were not effective. There is an excellent article in the
November 1995 issue of QEX by Ed Wetherhold, W3NQN, on the design and
construction of a band-stop filter that completely solved my problem. When
the station went QRT five years later, I didn't even know about it for
several months, not until I saw them dismantling part of the office.

What Ed graciously did for me was for use only on receive and effective for
only one interfering frequency--I would think that the components could be
sized to handle power.

Be glad that the XENT of the l930's and early 1940's, across the river in
Reynosa, Mexico, on the air with either one half megawatt or one megawatt,
don't remember which, is still not there!

Good luck.
