I just read the posting by Bob, VE3OSZ, and found it very interesting and
encouraging.
I went through my logs and sorted 56 QSOs with VE3OSZ in many years of
TopBand activity, with some of them even during the summer season; that's
notable for 100 watts into an Inverted L !
With such a setup Bob is able to work regularly on the 6.500 km path from
Ottawa to my QTH in NorthEastern Italy.
Here are the the details (Qsos by year and then QSOs by month):
1992/1 - 1993/4 - 1994/1 - 1995/10 - 1996/8 - 1997/6 - 1998/5 - 1999/9 -
2000/6 - 2001/6 = total 56
Jan./7 - Feb./12 - Mar,/6 - Apr./6 - May/0 - Jun./3 - Jul./3 - Aug./2 -
Sep./3 - Oct./0 - Nov./7 - Dec./7 = total 56
Of course my working conditions are something more than Bob's, but nothing
spectacular: 500 watts into a shunt-fed 90 foot vertical and receiving on a
4 elements mini-square phased array.
Congratulations to Bob and best 73 to all,
