I have a 70' inverted-L that tunes up nicely on 160 meters with a
series capacitor. Values found empirically are 218pf @ 1.8,
152pf @ 1.9, and 105pf @ 2.0. For testing I used some 600V micas
I had on hand. The radio's auto-tuner easily handles frequencies
in between those points. I plan to put a remote controlled relay
capacitor box at the antenna feedpoint.
What I need to know is what voltage rating and type of capacitor
I should use for 100 watts (maybe 200 if I buy a FT-1000). The
little micas held up during testing but they do look wimpy.
Thanks for the collective wisdom,
