Topband: Beverage advice?

I'd like to try a beverage, but my options are fairly limited. I live
on 5 acres, however not all of it (very little, actually) is available
for the "antenna farm" I and urban dwellers dream of. I think I could
get about 250 - 300 feet installed. Questions are:

1. Can the feed end be at or above roof height (it needs to go over a
driveway)?

2. QTH is Auburn, CA (about 35 mi NE of Sacramento at 1,700' in the
foothills of the Sierra Nevada). If I can have only one wire, which
direction should it run? (my choices range from NE to SW. Other
directions are through an oak and pine forest)

3. There is a 145KV line running NS about a half-mile east of my
property. The noise on HF rises somewhat when I point the triband beam
east toward the line. What kind of effects would this have on a
Beverage running EW (toward the line).
