Topband: Inv. "L" antenna question

Topbanders,

It occured to me during the CQ 160 CW contest that I would have gained a
small
amount of directivity if I pointed the sloping leg of my Inverted "L" toward
my
favorite direction (East for example) ? Does this leg behave similiarly to
a longwire?
I understand the vertical leg is good for low-angle use and I wonder if
adding
more radials would perhaps improve any directivity that might be gained in
the
direction this sloping leg is pointing to? Is this theory really
negligible?

I've been away from the Topband for a few years and finally put up this
antenna
for the contest. My reward was a nice JA run early Sunday morning. No EU
worked out here in Colorado during the contest.
Also, I'd like to look at a model of this antenna, what do you guys suggest?
Thanks to those who worked me in the contest.
