I bought a Radio Shack portable receiver for the purpose. It is about the
size of a Walkman, and covers AM, FM, TV audio and aircraft. The aircraft
frequency range is 108 mHz to 132 mHz AM. I have found it quite effective
in pinpointing the noise source once the general location has been
determined. It has a simple telescoping whip antenna. Cost about $25.
