Topband: Reactance problem

Another suggestion is to run the same test after local sunset. Most of the AM stations in the country have a much lower night time power and are required to switch to that after local sunset.
Some stations may, by virtue of using a large directional antenna array get FCC approval for a daytime power of 50KW but are required to switch to as low as 500 watts at local sunset. Give it a try and you might find that BC overload can be impacting your readings.

I do not live particularly close to BC stations but was getting strange and inexplicable readings on my Inv L and other topband antennas. Then I bought the tunable filter device they sell and all readings fell into expected or likely boundaries.
