WD-1 is WW2-era wire ... saw a little in RVN in the sixties, and I remember
it had ome kind of cloth-composition insulation.  I doubt there's much of it
left in the world today.  The "newer" stuff was WD-110, which had black
polymer insulation, and was essentially un-cuttable with small diagonal
cutters (didn't stop the natives from stealing it however!).  I think the DC
loop resistance was somewhere in the 15 - 20 ohms per loop mile, however my
memory of that time is fairly poor, often on purpose.
