I got 3 of these lamps about 10 years ago and thought I had moved back to
the city.(city that was full of QRM)
(I live out in the country with little QRM).
One got a switch instantly--the other two were modified with a resistor and
a small choke to reduce RFI by 90% or more.
They are currently in storage packed away in our shed, or I'd take the
bottom off and tell you the wiring. The RF chokes I know I made myself from
a small piece of plastic rod (like what you'd get from an ink pen refill
(very tiny). I wound 30 or 40 turns of really fine wire from an old AM radio
ferrite antenna around it. Again, I can't remember exactly. The
resistor....hmmm, I can't even begin to remember. I saw the mod (I think)
in QST many years ago before I was on the net. Surely a few searches using
the google.com engine will bring results?
I know it can be done with most lamps.

GL!
