Topband: Topband from Uganda last night. 5X1X.

I thought some might be interested in what I heard on the top band last night from Uganda.  There were no contacts made from here last night, but Wednesday was more productive with two contacts to the US and about 14 European stations in the log.   Last night, however, I planned to wake at 2230Z but unfortunately, slept through until 0315Z.  

At 0323Z I copied a partial callsign (the letters "CW" on 1822 khz.  From O320 - O330Z I copies signals on 1825 but no callsigns determined (was this the TO4E pileup?).  From 0336 - 0350Z I copied a partial callsign "YY" on 1832 khz. At 0354Z I copied W1AW code practice on 1818khz.  Did not actually get the W1AW callsign, but heard punctuation marks and some words that sounded like code practice or bulletin.  At 0356Z on 1833 khz I copied some dits and dahs but no callsign. 

It seems the "window of opportunity" for me is from 2230Z to about 0130Z.  I make a point of calling CQ on 1828 khz.  Hope to make more QSO's.
