Topband: 2004 ARRL 160M Contest

Mark, you're right. 160M is a DX band. It wasn't considered that by the 
majority of hams until it became apparent that by good operating and 
good engineering, DX could be worked. A lot of people in the ARRL160 
test will be using low dipoles for Tx/Rx and will be interested in 
trying to work what they can hear. This makes it very tough for the DX 
to crack the noise Stateside.
     The ARRL 160 contest is what it is. I'd encourage everybody 
possible to get on and make some Q's, if not a full out effort to win 
the thing in whatever capacity they're trying to.
      Dec. 18 and 19 will have The Stew Perry TopBand Dx Challenge which 
has a different scoring mnemonic that emphasizes the DX in a DX contest.
