One important point!

Broad bandwidth is not an always indication of poor
efficiency, even though it sometimes is.

It is very possible and actually quite common to have low
efficiency antennas with narrow bandwidth, and high
efficiency antennas with wide bandwidth. This can be true
even when antenna are similar in size.
