Years ago in (maybe the RSGB TT?) there was an analog, discrete parts, 
circuit which compared a delayed input to a rate of rise input and blanked 
or attenuated anything that came up faster than your desired signal.  Was 
done at the IF level as existing parts needed a higher signal level to 
function.  Filed it away somewhere as it looked promising as something 
before a Cheby sharp filter.
