Topband: conditions today

checked the ZL gps correction beacon on 1818.5
and found to my surprise that it was well over S9!
during the last 2 years i have not heard it at all. 

first station heard at 10z was ZL1HY calling XQ6ET.
no joy for the ZL so i called. easy contact with S9
signals both ways.

went up a few khz's and called CQ. answered by
VK3ZL who sounded like a local- 20db over S9!
then called by jon, DU9/ who was a true S9 on the
meter. a number of JA's who were over 9 went into
the log.

had to go back to sleep- wonder what happened at
sunrise? TOPBAND LIVES!
