Topband: Conditions last night

TOPBAND seems like one of the last places to try
tailending as signals are generally weaker, and the
noise floor higher than the high bands. I've been in
this game for 40 years now. It seems that over the
years, the number of operators that know when to try
tailending, and how to do it properly has shrunk to a
pretty small number. Also, there are less nad less
operators who accept tailenders. I've done it but
never felt "comfortable" about the practice.
Sometimes, the DX station will refuse to work
tailenders and put you on his "no work" list if you
try it. As W9KNI said in his book, "live by the tail
end, die by the tail end".
