Topband: Loop for RX

Good afternoon!

I'm preparing my low band antennas for next season. No space here for
beverages, and I was thinking of using a rotary coaxial-loop for receive,
the one at the KC2TX WEB-site -    qsl.net/kc2tx   -  with preamplifier, but
was told by a friend of mine that's not worth the work and money, that this
kind of a receive antenna is no better than just using an inverted vee and
the attenuator in the transceiver. He says he has tested loops for receive
with poor results.

Is he right or wrong???
