Topband: Last Night...

Yesterday was absolutely phenomenal on 160...! 

It all started at 5:00 PM local time, with G3ZES calling CQ. Later on, I heard OM3RM, OE8SKQ, CN2R, HA8BE (589!), and OM3BH. Some of the signals were unbelievably strong---could hardly believe I was listening to Top Band...

The latter was the ONLY station I actually managed to WORK, however! Hi Hi. 

Hardy recently ran the specs of my grounded half loop through a computer programme he has---turns out the design makes for a very effective dummy antenna, & not much else in the transmitting department. Anyway, I tore it down this morning, replacing it with a temporary inverted "L".

That grounded half loop sure was a FB receiving antenna, though...I'll miss it ONLY for that.
