Lots & lots of steady QRN, & static crashes well in excess of S-9 here both last night, and this morning...heard a single EA3 station in the evening yesterday repeatedly calling CQ---didn't seem to be responding to anyone on this side, despite his 5 7/8 9 signal.
I've taken down anything & everything here even remotely akin to grounded half loops, & instead, have two 1/8-wave spaced inverted "L" antennas, 135-degrees out of phase. Still not the "...be-all-and-end-all" of antennas, but the system was good enough for three European QSO's the first night I tried it earlier this week!
Does anyone know exactly where the "VE7" St. Pierre & Miquellon gang are staying on the islands...? We visited there in 1990, & were delightfully surprised to stumble into Gus VO1MP & a "G"-land buddy of his working the pile-ups on 40 from the HOTEL ROBERT. Owner Robert was most kind towards Hams, & did everything possible to accommodate them during their visits...I wish I was there right now!
