Topband: I don't need no more stinking noise!

In my quest to keep the XYL happily watching TV while I am fishing in
the gray line for a new one on 160, I need a TV set that doesn't produce
birdies and other noises across the band. I inquired on the reflector
and promised to condense and report the answers. Here are the results
of my inquiry:
---------
Ray, NR1R, has two LCD TVs that are quiet.
----------
Dave, AA6YQ has a couple of Runco plasma units that are noisy.
----------
Dave, W0FLS, has an LG plasma set that he loves, but indicates that it
produces low level noise roughly every 24 kHz across 160. He also
indicates that it isn't much worse than his old analog set in the noise
department.
----------
Steve, AA4V, avers that plasma sets are noisy and LCD and DLP sets are
quiet.
----------
Steve, K8EJ, indicates that his new Sony SXRD makes no noise, his
friends DLP is quiet, but a neighbor's plasma is causing him some problems.
----------
Peter, W5PS, with a Mitsubishi rear projection HDTV has no noise problems.
----------
Jon, AA1K, has a neighbor who has a new plasma set which is making noise
on the low end of 160.
----------
Denny, K8DO, joins the chorus and says that plasma is bad and LCD is good.
----------
Dave, KJ9I, has a Sharp Aquos HDTV which produces no noise.
----------

It would appear that, for 160 ops, plasma sets should be eschewed,
despite their good looks. LCD and Rear Projection, DLP and SXRD sets
are quiet. A variety of makes all seem to fit into that
generalization. Thanks to all who responded to my question. Your
answers have helped immensely. I see a Sony SXRD or possibly a Sharp
Aquos LCD in my wife's future. Thanks again.

73 and Happy New Year,
