Topband: Strange condx

With low SFI and A & K numbers at or near zero the past few days I found
during prime time with very few DX stations coming through but those few
were extremely strong. One ON4 station S9 (ON4IA I think) Tue morning KL7RA
was as loud as some locals and right now one hour after sunrise (wed) N7DD
is CQ'n and over S9 in Indiana.  No JA's  this am but they have been regular
under much worse A & K numbers.  Is there any way to predict good condx
without becoming an insomniac? de gary, kd9sv
