Probably not because there are so many other factors like ground conductivity
etc. If you have a good match fine...if your time is limited try a omega
match so you don't waste your time climbing up and down the tower to find the
sweet point.

If you want to "get him" IMHO concentrate your resources on good low noise RX
antennas like Beverages and or pennants. Even several quick BOG's in the DX
direction may make the difference. Such a contest the bigger score is not a
matter of 1.5 db's but rather getting enough country multipliers to bring your
score up. Look for your multipliers when conditions favor it rather than
calling CQ incessently when nice DX mults are for the taking. Plan your time
because in a contest like this proper timing for what you do is everything.
