Topband: Help - Mysterious Noise on 160 meters

My immediate thought is that the noise is local...  Possibly in your house/shack... Start by putting the rig on a battery and shutting off the main breaker to the house... Also, turn off any pager or cell fone you may be wearing, plus any on other people in the house...  Further look for any battery powered device in or around your property, including the cell phone chargers, battery chargers, remote control toys, etc...
Then the immediate neighbors - golf cart and wheel chair chargers are known offenders...
