Gary:

I should have said, put the capacitor or inductor in series with the 51 ohm 
resistor.
I tried it on my MFL-259B. I used a 150pf silver mica in series with a 51 
ohm resistor.
At 5, 10 and 20 MHz the capacitance reactance reading is very close to the 
calculated value.
