Well, that fateful moment that I've been dreading all along is upon me here:
yes, it's time to roll up the radials, bag them separately by specific
antenna & tuning capacitor enclosure, ID each, and set them away in an
unused corner of the garage until it's (literally) "trick or treat" time
again in the autumn...!

Ed,

On Monday Japan was as loud as I have heard them all year and I worked Guam
AH2L for a new one as well. The static levels may become higher during
Spring and Summer up north...something I have all year long in the
tropics.... but the propagation induced thrills during the "off season" can
be exciting and productive. Best rule is to put out of your mind that there
is ever anytime of the year that DX is not possible. Also remember that
during our winter months when we were working trans equatorial DX such as
3Y0, FT5, VK9, ZL8 and the Indian Ocean new ones...these contacts occured
during their summer months.

What Winston Churchill said holds so true for topband: "......Never, never,
never give up." or
IMHO don't roll up the radials, bury them!
