The MFJ 1026 comes with a small telescoping antenna that can be used as the
"noise" antenna.
It also contains a preamplifier for the "noise" antenna. The 1025 does not
have this.
In most cases, an external antenna can do better.
The person who said that it was built terrible, must have been sent a used
modified unit.
I have both a 1025 and 1026 and they both look very nice inside and out.
The S E M unit that was built in The Island of Man, works well on HF, but
not on 160 meters.
It is no longer manufactured.
