Topband: Not so Boring Report

Last night shortly after sunset, I made a point to get on the radio and
see how Topband was doing. It was about week since I heard Europe.

I listened on RA4LW's frequency and could tell Vlad's signal was in there,
but not very good copy. However, the QSB gods smiled and Vlad's signal
came up to 569 - several s units above the noise!! UA4HBW was much
weaker, but eventually made it into my log.

I decided to call CQ as there seemed to be no other signals on the band.
I ended up with several new callsigns in the log - RZ3AM, UA3BS, RX3RA,
US0ZZ, YL2GM and OH6 (forgot the call). I head a CQ from OH4KZM who
peaked up to 559 or 569 - but got "NIL" in response to my call. Perhaps
he thought I was too loud to be on the west coast.

I think RZ3AM and UA3BS were the same transmitter - the signals, frequency
and fist all sounded the same.

After working OH3XR at 0320z, there weren't any other signals copied, however
I was still getting reports on the internet from the stations I worked
for another 30 minutes. I believe there were more stations calling me,
but I wasn't able to pull them through.

I did hear ZS3/G3LZQ some last night around his sunrise, but not well enough
for the QSO.

It's not dead yet!!
