This AM, it appears VK3ZL went to bed early as he wasn't on the band when
I got up.

However, after a few CQs, I heard VK6ABL coming back to me - around 1245
UTC. However, Phil faded after I sent him my report and I didn't complete
the QSO. Jo, YC0LOW, reported hearing me 339 - and tried calling. I think
I could hear his signal, but didn't have any copy. Didn't seem to be a
big peak at sunrise (currently 1300z). This was all on 1824.5 kHz.

Happy to report that the sky hook for my 2nd parasitic element is all
complete. This was created by extending one or my 80 meter 4 square
elements to 80 feet with an insulated pole and a pulley for a rope.
I hope to get this element working this weekend so I can have a 3 element
beam switching between VK and Europe.

I also have been having fun listening to my K3 in diversity reception
mode using the sub receiver (which is identical to the main receiver).
If you are interested, you can hear what it sounds like using the two
links below. Best if you use headphones. The first one is a signal
on 40CW with a beverage and a 3 element beam on each RX. The second one
is on the AM broadcast band (1590 kHz) in the early evening using a
beverage and a vertical. It's interesting to hear things moving
around the stereo image as the conditions change.

I had the wrong year in my previous post about the Stew Perry dates, but
the month/days were correct. October 18th/19th, 2008 and December 27th/28th
2008.
