Topband: Twisting WD-1A for Beverage use?

Greetings topbanders,

After losing use of the land where my Beverage "farm" used to be and
sustaining major damage from a lightning hit on one of my towers,
I'm trying to get back on top band! I currently have no receive
antennas, and have not yet found parts to repair my amplifier, so I
still have some work to do.

I read in Low Band DXing (3rd ed.) that twisting twin lead wire used
for Beverages is a good idea to improve balance. Is this necessary
for close spaced twin lead such as WD-1A? If so, any suggestion on
how to accomplish this? I have no open, level space in which to work
with the wire. Any Beverage I put up will be running through snarly
forest. I have been experimenting with possible methods to twist the
wire as I run it from tree to tree, but I have not had much success.

I think I can put up a reasonable length northeast/southwest
Beverage, but unfortunately northeast will be useless most of the
time due to noise from a neighbor's TV. If I can get permission from
enough neighbors I may be able to do another southeast/northwest.

73,
Paul N1BUG
