Topband: 160M Daylight QSO's - Conclusion

I'd like to try a west coast station with a decent setup. It 
was fairly reliable to work K6SE years ago on the days Earl 
was on.

100 watt stations from the north coast are typically 20-30dB 
out of noise here in the daytime although QSB is very deep.

I've been using a 220 ft vertical. When I change to the 
dipole at 300 feet at 1PM local time everyone says I vanish!
