This is quite sad. I lived in Rogers, AR for several years, and 
occasionally went by to visit with John.  After I left that area I 
often wondered what happened to him.  Thanks for the update on a 
great member of or fraternity, and a generous individual who was 
always willing to share information about 160 meters.
