Good day Topbanders!!

The insanity continues. Last night, 4L/UU4JMG was actually making it to
Oregon.

However, even though Andy thought he had heard me a few times, I didn't make
it through to him. Not optimistic that I will work him during the contest,
but I guess it is possible.

The 3X stayed on long enough for me to put him in the log - so that was a
second new country (with EY8MM worked in the morning).

I woke up earlier than normal - and put RU3DX in the log at 1236 UTC, which
was almost a half hour before Eugene's sunset. LY2IJ was also hearing me
well before his sunset - and we worked at 1337 and again at 1344. A number
of zone 17 and 16 Russians made it into the log.

Then, XW1B spotted N7UA. I understand this was the first NA QSO for XW1B.
Eventually, XW1B made it into my log - at 1444 UTC. So - three new ones
in 23 hours and 54 minutes. It has probably been 11 years since I have
had a day like this.

Last QSO was with OG2M at 1501Z. Pertti was pretty weak as the opening is
mostly over then (even though it is still before my sunrise).

I will be operating the contest single-op - single-band 160. Hope some of
these magic openings occur during the contest so I can have a good result.

A few have asked about my antennas. I have a loaded tower that is 80 feet
tall with a 5 element 20 and 5 element 15 on top. It has about 60 radials
on the ground. I have two parasitic elements - one that is about 90 feet
south of the tower. I have been using that as a reflector for most of my
recent activity. I also have another one to the south-west of the tower,
which is a reflector for Africa and a director for VK/ZL. I have five
directions covered by beverages and am using a beverage in one ear and
the TX antenna in tother - using the diversity mode in my K3. The recordings
I am posting are actually in stereo and if you put your headphones on,
you can hear how the diversity works.

Amp is a pair of 3-500Zs (Viewstar PT-2500A).
