When the numbers on the graph on the Moscow Neutron Monitor drop to a -5  to
-10 or better, ducting is possible, permitting long-haul and long path QSO's
regardless of the sunspot numbers. This, couples with a rapidly increasing A
index is a good time to be QRV on 160. Without ducting, the path loss on
normal skip patterns is too great for long-haul QSO's
