I totally agree with you Carl. Also Japanese and Russians are QSLing almost 
100% ...and their QSL service is much better and reliable than the older Box 
88 in Moscow!
Americans are really the worst QSLers (specially some Big Guns), but I think 
also that ARRL QSL service is not good, though expensive.
I send my QSL via the Bureau at first for each new DX station worked, but 
the return rate from USA is around 5%, as you noted.
Most of the Stateside QSLs are received direct beings a new one for them on 
160.
I'm also getting old as I don't use Lotw, but I still prefer to have the QSL 
card, specially from a Topband friend, than to quickly upgrade the DXCC 
position.
