Topband: Connection protection?

Summary
All of these have been used successfully to protect outdoor electrical  
connections:

3M Scotchkote
Scotch electrical tape + 3M Scotchkote
Permatex silicone sealer "Ultra black" (from DX engineering)
Scotch electrical tape + Coax seal
ACE Hardware "Liquid Tape"
PVC or ABS pipe cement + krylon black or aluminum paint
Liquid tape no-ox, or ox guard
GE Silicon tube sealer

Electrical tape covered with a sealer appears to be the consensus if  
disassembly of the connections is ever contemplated, otherwise sealer  
directly. Paint as a final cover with certain materials where exposed  
to sunlight.
