> Jo, Try to use cable TV spec RG6 which has a solid steel messenger cable as part of the assembly. Some call this figure 8 cable and it is used for all weather house drops from pole to house. Some carry a floding compound that stops the ingress of moisture. 1500 feet on RG6 on 160 meters should not be more than 1 db or so...but having a good working antenna that can hear is everything. You might take care however and not running the cable in close parralel proximity to AC drops and even long CATV runs as a precaution to a Farraday effect that could perhaps induce noise into your antenna. This, however is easy to check and test, and you can make some small ferrite isolators ala W8JI to break up common mode issues. Hope to work you this season.
