THIS antenna worked gang busters for me!

http://www.iw5edi.com/ham-radio/?a-160-meter-antenna-for-small-lot,105

I entered the CQ and ARRL contests two years ago and had 200+ Qs for the CQ and 148 for the ARRL event and I was QRP!

I built it, connected about 5 counterpoise wires of 50 to 60 foot lengths, laid 'em on the ground around that antenna and had a ball! Employed a Jacktite mast (28' version) to tie the end of the 70 foot stinger to. OH, after I finished it, made up a 3 legged base for it out of more 2" PVC and laid a cement block on the base, hooked my xcvr up, connected an inline SWR meter and had 1.2:1 with NO tuner!

I used a 8 foot piece 2" PVC for the coil form - the 70 feet of coil wire took up about 4.5 feet of the PVC tube when wound with an 1/8" distance between the wire turns.

That little thing works! Something to consider....72, Jim Rodenkirch, K9JWV

> With limited space what is the best antenna for 160? The only room available is a 130X50' area. Ground radials will be nearly impossable to put in large enough to be of much value. 1/4 wave antenna tried, very narrowband and interfeared with every receiving device in a block. I may just be out of luck. wb5oxq
