Spot on analysis,  Sam!  How much "wiggling the dial" time do you think I spent (often with positive results) operating QRP with a shortened L antenna at 30 feet???  Try LOTS of time varying my send frequency in an effort to find the "sweet spot" where the other fella would hear me.
