Topband: Ticked over intentional interference on top band

My first QSL was from the FCC. After two weeks of calling CQ on 40 with a bread boarded 6aq5 rig to no avail, FCC sent a postcard asking why as a Novice I was 20. I wound tank coil wrong and second harmonic got their attention. That was somewhat discreet but I hung it up in shack proudly as the monitor station was "DX" up in Canandaigua,, NY only miles from the border of exotic VE3 land.

I started out with an Ameco AC1 which was a MOPA (master oscilattor power amplifier) rig. I received an post card form an OO (official observer) notifying be of my chirp and offering assistance if necessary. I remember the note started off with something to the effect that "This is not a violation notice or a 'bawling out", but one ham helping another fellow ham". I was impressed with the professionalism.
