High solar activity not only affects 160 meter propagation, but Sam Beverage, a relative of Harold Beverage, has noted a polar freezing connection.

On another subject, this one Sun-Spot Cycle related, is the plight of the Russian Cruise ship stuck in the Antarctic ice, where they expected open water to be. 


As I see it the problem is the same as in the previous Cycle when another Russian Cruise ship was sunk while trying to enter the Weddell Sea. Both happening at a time of high Solar Activity. ie colder temperatures.


The failed Shackleton Expedition also happened at a time of high Solar activity.
The previous years of these three happenings those areas were mostly open!


There are similar comparisons with Arctic expeditions. Conditions are not the same from year to year!
