Thanks, Jim, for sharing this sad news with all of us.
Bud was a dear friend, a great ham and a very successful Top Band DX'er.  We will sorely miss his melodious voice on the 1.855 chat group, all the stories and experiences he shared, and his warm smile at Visalia DXC.
73, my friend, and Godspeed --- John W6UQZ

This e-mail is being sent to everyone in Dad's e-mail address book:
(sorry if you received this yesterday)

I am sorry to inform you of the passing of Elwood C. "Bud" Veregge on
Saturday, June 1st at 5:42pm at the Carson Valley Medical Center in
Gardnerville, Nevada.  Bud was taken by ambulance on May 30th after
collapsing in his home. Bud's next door neighbor found him unresponsive
lying on his floor and he was rushed to the hospital where he was placed
in the Intensive Care Unit with extremely low blood pressure and very
high white blood cell count indicating a severe infection in his lower
abdomen and intestines. Unfortunately after showing some initial
improvement, his condition worsened late this afternoon, when his blood
pressure and heart rate dropped to zero.

I was lucky to have flown into Reno this morning and spent most of the
day with Dad.  He continued to ask me to "take him home", and that "he
felt fine" most of the day, even though it was clear that his condition
was worsening.  Dad's passing was peaceful and before he lost
consciousness I told him many times that he was loved by all of his
children and grandchildren - he smiled several times...

Bud was a proud Marine, a proud Republican and a Proud American.  He
lived a long life, had three great loves in his life and continued his
life-long hobby of amateur ("Ham") radio until the past 1-2 years.  Bud
out-lived many of his good friends over the years, and often remembered
fondly those who went before him. He graduated from San Jose State
University and volunteered to join the Marines at the beginning of WW2.
He was stationed in China and China Lake, CA and served 9 years until he
started working in the Aerospace Industry for Lockheed, Litton,
Electronic Specialties and later worked for Hughes Aircraft Company,
where he retired about 20 years ago.  In between he worked in real estate
and formed several of his own companies.

Our family is proud of everything that Dad accomplished in life.  He
served his country with honor, and was a good father to Fred, Pam, Jon
and I.  He will be missed but never forgotten.
