Topband: HF DF idea (was Steady Carrier on 80 CW)

I was just thinking a bit about the current DF problem
with the 80m carrier. Since this seems to pop up from time
to time would there be any interest in setting up a network
of DF stations? The pieces are all there already, just needs
some "glue" to stick things together. The amateur lightning
detection network uses something similar to triangulate
lightning strikes in real time.

Okay, how about some really cheap SDR's (TV dongles)
all linked over the internet with directional antennas like
crossed loops. Simply plug in a frequency at the central
control point and get bearing information fed back for
locating a source. Internet controlled SDR's are out there,
the antennas are cheap to build and for local processing
a Raspberry Pi or Beagleboard, the new kid on the block is
the Parallella if you need the power. The local computing
can run headless and feed direct to a network connection
once setup, it would look like any other network address.

Any thoughts on this?
