HI.
I hope this don’t sound out of discussion, but about maybe 10 yrs ago.W
went to a small "beach" on the river blackwater " estuary near were we live.
I had recebtly got a cheap £3 world band radio, and it must have been 7pm
BST and tide was in. tuning around the MW I found a reasonable station, but
presenters accent i couldn’t place .
Now here is the bit that cant have, but DID happen,it was a phone in chat
show and were discussing Australia`s health system. Then the presenter said
I was nearly the end of show and gave the name of the station in Sydney.
Not long after that my local club gave a talk by the RF engineer on board a
certain pirate radio station,,he was asked abt longest DX and held up a
letter from someone in Australia giving all the details of what was
heard. And said with 30Kw to a 1/4 wave in a perfect reflector and a steel
ship approx 300` long I think tx were a couple of continentals .
FYI.the last iteration of that stations seafaring days has/is being
restored and is near us in our river .
sorry for bandwidth and slightly slanted veiw of putting antennas on
beaches. I have putting up a 1/4,held up by balloons and a rx loop
now the flack
Regards and73`s jon.
