Seems to me that if they get to cut one program.. they will go after the next one with speed and alaricity.

Nothing slows a money hungry bureaucrate, when on the trail of free money.

and closing something they don't know about.. is free money to spend on a pet project they do know about.

The 60 kHz transmissions are done by WWVB.  No mention of WWVB being
impacted by the new budget proposal.
