Topband: Summer Update & a Surprise

Andy is right: FT8 should in a separate category.
Especially, when we consider the "dirty little secret": Increasingly, a
number of ops are using fully automated FT8 stations. Most of the time they
are not even in the shack while their automated FT8 stations are making
QSO-s.
Whether we agree with or like all that, or whether we even like FT8, is
totally besides the point. None of that will stop; all the ARRL can do is
put it in a separate category, otherwise the value of DXCC will be
hopelessly diluted.
73,
George,
AA7JV/C6AGU
PS: The value of DXCC goes far beyond the paper certificate and the bragging
rights that comes with it. Today the DXCC program is responsible for a very
great deal of the remaining non-FT8 activity on the MF/HF bands!
