Topband: Band Conditions

Hello Topbanders,
Good conditions tonight towards EU from C6AGU, Bahamas, FL14uv. The band is 
certainly alive and well.
The location is very quiet here. Using the TX ANT for RX worked 200+ EU this 
evening using 400 W (Wed, Nov 20/21). Signals were generally good, with what 
seemed to be strong QSB. However, it was not the signals that were up and 
down. Rather, it was the noise that was fluctuating up and down by as much 
10 to 15 dB. Signals that were good copy when the noise was low would 
completely disappear when the noise level rose.
The QTH is on an uninhabited island, with the nearest civilization about 5 
miles away, and even that is very minimal. The nearest city is Nassau, about 
100 miles away. Florida is 280 miles to the west. I don't think the noise 
was man-made, or at least not local. The dominant period between noise peaks 
and troughs was between 3 and 6 seconds. There seemed to be no rhythm to it, 
just a seemingly random up and down.
Has anyone experienced this king of noise?
