I am very sad to hear that John ON4UN passed away.
As a person who also loves the Low band and Contests like him,
I would like to write a memory of him.
I participated in the DX Pediction in 1985 as a Low band CW operator
of Kingman Reef K9AJ/KH5K and Palmyra Island W0RLX/KH5.
In very difficult conditions, I worked a few European on 80 meters.
He is the only European to QSO from both locations, KH5K and KH5.
He was really pleased that I gave him two new countries.
He had been waiting for 160M permissions in Belgium for many years.
And we, as well as the 160M man, had been waiting for it for a long time.
It was finally approved in January 1987, and he came out with a strong
signal.
He made us happy. I still clearly remember that time.
Also he wrote ON4UN's Low Band DXing which is used by many people as a
bible.
I'm just one of them.
I visited Mr.160M Stew W1BB in 1981.
And I am proud that he used my photo of Stew in the book.
Thank you everything, John. RIP
