Direct fed at the top, with the coax braid grounded to the tower. No
radials needed.

Ive used 1/4 wave slopers for 40, 80 and 160, with towers between 48
and 66 ft tall.

On 40m dx performance was outstanding with the 48 ft tower. At 66 ft
the 40m did well and the 80m sloper did very well. The 160m sloper did
ok but taller towers should improve performance on the lowest bands.

But it was very convenient having one antenna (consisting of three
slopers tied together at the top and fed by one coax, that worked well
on 40-80-160 DX.

I remember working a GM on 40 ssb who told me I was just as strong as
a guy he just worked who was using a 2 el yagi. He insisted I was
pounding in at his end and was very impressed by the antenna.

Note: you may have to play around with the lengths of the 2 or three
1/4 wave slopers to get resonance where you want it, but the effort is
well worth it.

With regard to the discussion on 1/4 wave slopers are members feeding
the sloper at the top end against the tower or at the bottom against
the ground system ?
My understanding from the ARRL HB? is?a 1/4 wave sloper was fed at
the top against the Tower.?
