Over the years I have wound a lot of transformers for 2 wire beverages
and have always had a question about the center tapped transformer T2
using a binocular core.? ON4UN states in his Ed 5 Pg 7-69 ( HALF TURNS),
that even turns should always be used on this transformer to avoid half
turns on each side of the the windings.? He say in testing, while odd
turns can sometimes help the match, there can be loss of up to 2 db due
to the half turn that results on each winding.? So upon that advice I
have always used even number of turns.? I still see articles on the web
showing T2 with odd turns.? Not sure if they don't care about the loss
or desire the match more or some data I have not seen.? Any comments on
this? 73 Mike K4PI

Roger, G3YRO: Good to work you again. But Ive been caught with my
pants down...err I mean with my radials up. Coiled up for summer
mowing but now its too cold and snowy to lay them out. So Ive been
working radial-less. The 52 ft tall 1/4 wave L with a single 8 ft
ground rod still works, but not as well on DX contacts. But the other
night besides you (G3YRO) I worked IV8PRK, and then at my SR Luke,
VK3HJ. Just not with the usual sig strength, alas.

Hope to catch Mamuka, 4L2M this weekend for a new one on TB.

Bob

PS Nice clear blue skies this morning with a temp of +1F. Good for top
band but not antenna work.

Hi Andy,

I could not be 100% QRV in the last few days, so good to hear that
conditions improved.

Here I'm suffering some local noises (mostly from 15kV power lines) but I
don't give up. I will be as SN2M during CQ 160.
This season I have 12x Beverage's including 2 different arays for W/VE and
separate antenna for 330deg (West Coast). Till now , I've made only 1 QSO on
this antenna, with Steve VE6WZ... So hope it's gonna be more usefull during
this weekend ;)

Unfortunaly, I'm seen on the band everyday more guys using other continent
web SDR for receiving, despite they have big stations and their own long
Bev's... I don't even know how to comment this...

73's all and good luck in the contest

There is such an expression - "no comments" ......

I am sure that a mentally healthy person with good or even bad receiving
antennas will not use WEB SDR to cheat.
